Aardman animations and the Bristol Old vic young company will be at the heart of this years summer masterclasses for young people at the Kingswood Foundation.
 
Ian Whitlock (a senior animator at Aardmans) and Ian Tidbury (Director of the Bristol Old Vic young company) will be running master classes during two weeks of workshops for young people.  The Performing arts week begins on the 17-21st August and a visual arts week between 24-28th August.  For more information and to book a place please contact the Kingswood Foundation office.  Cost £50 per week (open to 13-19 years old).  Subsidised places are available.  The enqiry form can be downloaded here.

 Premix!! - Next date 10th July 7.30pm £1.50 entry

15 Young people have made 5 films with the BBC to be screened next week.
15 young people from dissadvantaged backgrounds have been working with BBC producers, directors, cameramen and actors to produce 5 films.  With the support of the Kingswood Foundation the young people have scripted and produced the films that were shown on the 19th May at the BBC studios in front of an invited audience. The films will be available to download soon.
 
 
 
 
 
2 Young volunteers in Youth 4 Youth have won 'Young VOlunteer of the year award' in South Gloucestershire.
Rhiannon Hunter (19) was given the award by South Gloucestershire Council for coordinating youth 4 youth for 2 years.  She met with the Chair and leaders of the Council to receive her award.

Youth 4 Youth the main event!!
If you are between 13-25 and want to get involved in organising this years main event then come along to the Kingswood Foundation - we meet on Thursdays at 6pm.   We expect over 2000 people to come to Youth 4 Youth - the biggest youth arts event in Bristol! It's hard work and we are looking for dedicated volunteers to help out.  We provide training and support and you will get loads of experience and contacts.  Most of all though - you'll have fun.

Hip Hop Classes on Mondays

 

Local dancer Ben Nash is running Hip Hop and Breakdance sessions for all ages from 5pm on Mondays in Studio 1.  It's part of the national B Boy circle.  Classes run between 5-8pm every Monday.  Just turn up and have a go.
 
 
 
 The Youth 4 Youth team were invited to London as finalists in this years Shine 09 (sponsored by the Youth Action Network and T-Mobile.

  The Kingswood Foundationhas teamed up with the Media Trust and the BBC in Bristol to bring you a unique 7 week course in film making.
Young People between the ages of 14 and 21 can take part starting on the 24th February.  We are particularly looking for young people who've had a hard start in life and who wouldn't have been able to take a chance like this before.  If this is you, or you know someone who would be interested please call the Kingswood Foundation office.  Or for more information click here.  This is a once in a lifetime opportunity.  Don't let it go to waste.
 
 
  
Fusion Dance - Will start again on the 22nd January 5pm
Able bodied and Disabled young people worked for one week during the Easter holidays to put on a headline performance at the Fusion dance festival.  Now the group is meeting every Thursday evening in Studio 1 of the Kingswood Foundation at 5pm.  The group is open to anyone between 11-19 and will be working towards performances during the year.  The group will be working with nationally renowned artist CLeo Lake. Kingswood's got talent
  
It was great to see over 1000 people at our show in the Kingswood shopping centre.  Marrissa Billeteri from the X factor helped GWR switch on the lights in the shopping centre.  The evening showed off the best of our talent in Kingswood including The Fourtones, World champion Irish dancers, Hip hop crew, internationally renowned Ten Sing and our very own Antony James! 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 Youth 4 Youth - 13th September 2008 - was an amazing success

Nearly 1000 people came to this years event despite Royworld cancelling at the last minute.  The sun shone and everyone had a great time watching the bands and taking part in a range of workshops and activities.  Bush and Troy from GWR Bristol presented the Fuel with the Y4Y factor Prize and the whipped up a storming performance to finish the day.  The Pictures are now up - click below to check them out!! Here's to 2009!!
